The newly-refurbished Shepherd's Hut is located just outside Taunton, Somerset. Nesting between Quantock, Brendon and Blackdown Hills, Quantock View is easily accessible and only a few minutes from M5, Junction 26. The view from the front decking is over the most stunning views of outstanding natural beauty of the Quantock Hills. You can also enjoy views of Brendon and Blackdown Hills. Sleeping three, this open plan living and cooking accommodation is the ideal base for exploring this area of outstanding natural beauty. Surrounded by open fields in the beautiful Somerset countryside is Quantock View, a charming shepherd’s hut offering a couple or small family a wonderful, refreshing retreat.

Settled in the village of Oake, Quantock View has been beautifully decorated with light and bright interiors, and enjoys an amazing special feature in the form of a separate timber barbecue hut for delicious grilled dinners all year round.

Soak up the gorgeous views of the Quantock Hills on arrival after parking up in your private space, before being acquainted with this homely dwelling.

The shepherd’s hut enjoys an open-plan layout with a sofa bed offering an inviting sitting area in the daytime, whilst at night the trundle bed below transforms it into a double bed.

Similarly, there is a chair bed, which can be made into a single to accommodate a further guest, great for small family escapes.

The quaint kitchenette boasts a microwave, fridge, and other essentials with the lovely owners providing a wonderful welcome basket to help you into holiday mode!

The electric stove-effect fire adds to the homely feel of this little space, with a fold-out dining table and chairs to set up in the cooler months, while outside there is outdoor dining furniture for summer alfresco.

Freshen up in the lovely shower room boasting a walk-in shower and WC, with a basin in the kitchenette.

Discover a wonderful addition to this already impressive retreat in the form of a fabulous barbecue hut, allowing you to relax on the day beds within as the open top cooker grills delicious food, perfect to use at any time of year, while a fire pit and barbecue out on the lawn provides another spot to enjoy on starry nights, as well as a handy bike shed for your outdoor excursions.

Make the most of the gorgeous surrounding countryside with plenty of walks in the area, stopping in at nearby villages like Milverton, Hillcommon, and Bishops Lydeard, the latter boasting a beautiful church, Bishops Lydeard Mill, and Quantock Brewery.

The charming village of Oake is home to a local shop and Post Office combined, while the nearest pub is just further up the road in Hillcommon, The Orchard Inn, serving delicious pub grub, and if you’re lucky, you may be able to catch an event at Pontispool Equine Sports Centre.

Stroll over to Oake Manor Golf Club which spans over 6149 yard’s with rural views, before heading over to the glorious Sheppys House of Cider where you can enjoy a meal at the restaurant before strolling around the orchard.

Enjoy a day out to the lovely Wellington Park, home to restored Edwardian and landscaped gardens, or head to Hestercombe House & Gardens and discover temples, lakes and attractive formal beds.

Pull up your walking boots and venture north into the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for some excellent walks ascending the likes of Cothelstone Hill and Broomfield Hill, boasting picturesque scenery towards the coast.

Visit the incredible and dramatic St Audries Bay Waterfall before heading to Kilve Beach to explore the rock pools before settling on the large grassy area behind the shore for a picnic with a view.

Another delightful coastal spot is Watchet, home to Tropiquaria Wildlife Park, while further inland is Diggerland Devon and southward is the Blackdown Hills AONB for more glorious countryside.
